Home Assistant is awesome and totally deserves to be a primary citizen on my bare-metal PC to enjoy all the resources and a 500G SSD exclusively for itself. Then comes my wife and says our Google storage quota is almost maxed out. She obviously has a ring 0 privilege and got me interrupted for a couple of days to squeeze my dear home automation to a Linux VM.
